There is a transitional fare (Übergangstarif) for bus travel between the VBN area and the municipalities in Rotenburg (Wümme) district, which are not part of the VBN area.

This ticket entitles the holder to use local public transport buses, trams and trains within the VBN area. In the municipalities in Rotenburg (Wümme) district that are not part of the VBN, this ticket entitles the holder to use buses only. A ticket on the Lower Saxony fare schedule is required for journeys in local trains there.

The transitional fare schedule has an identical price to the VBN fare schedule. Just like the VBN fare schedule, the ticket price in the transitional fare schedule is calculated on the basis of the fare zones to be travelled through (one fare zone corresponds to a municipality). For bus journeys starting from the VBN area, tickets are available from the familiar VBN booking offices. Tickets must be purchased for the relevant Price Level. In the municipalities in Rotenburg that are not part of the VBN, the tickets are available from the transport companies that are part of Verkehrsgemeinschaft Nordost-Niedersachsen (VNN).
